Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco (October 12, 1908 - May 1, 1993) was a novelist, essayist, journalist, historian and diplomat. He was part of the "Guayaquil Group". Karl H. Heise complimented his work. He wrote the novel ''El muelle'' (The Pier), about his experiences working on New York City's docks of New York during the Great Depression.〔(Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco ) The Famous People〕 After returning to Ecuador he also spent several years in exile in Chile.〔 His 1944 novel ''Las tres ratas'' (The three rats) was made into an Argentine film two years after it was written.
